Programma
Students will learn and practise the techniques and language needed to write a successful discursive essay in English. Lesson will focus on register, content and structure of essays and will cover useful collocations and linguistic conventions used in English essay-writing. Language The course offers a comprehensive review of all major English grammar structures up to and including B2 level. Areas studied include the English verb tense system, countable/uncountable nouns, modal verbs, relative clauses, present/past participles, the English conditional system, articles/determiners. Lexis covered includes B2 level vocabulary, collocations, idioms and phrasal verbs for topics such as travel, culture, entertainment, inventions/discoveries, wellbeing, history. Oral Students will also have regular practice of spoken English, based on the types of topics that might arise in the oral exam. During the course, the focus of speaking will be on fluency, accuracy, complex grammatical forms and lexis building at B2 level.
Modalit� d'esame
There are two part to the B2 written exam. Part 1 consists of two exercises. Firstly, there is an open cloze, consisting in a paragraph with ten missing words that students must provide. Secondly, there are five transformation sentences, in which students must fill a gap of 2 to 5 words in a reformulated sentence. Part 2 is an essay question on a current topic, such as climate change, technology or education.
